Google Chromebook Shop-in-Shop

2019-2020 – Creative Direction, Retail / Industrial Design & Engineering

With the launch of new flagship models, Google was looking to create a hub for Chomebooks in retailers across Canada. This new space would collect all Chromebooks together to better communicate the product line up and improve the brands visibility in-store. To address key markets, a shop in shop experience was devised to offer additional Chromebook models, supporting accessories and create a premium customer experience.

Our team partnered with Google, and their US-based agency Workshop, to design and implement the program. The goal was to elevate the design of the shop in shop — using finer materials such as Baltic birch plywood and Corian countertops and a simple, modern design — to deliver fit and finish above traditional retail standards that would feel fresh for years to come. To further its longevity, all branding (save a subtle Chromebook logo milled side of the table) was contained in easily updated illuminated brand billboards. This flexible approach would allow the space to evolve with the frequency of a digital-first brand — as future graphic refreshes could transform the look of the shop in shop.
